Default Muffler locations with V8 swap

Wondering where you guys are putting your mufflers on your V8 swap cars. I found some round case mufflers that I thought of putting in the rear on each side of spare tire well. I also found some quieter standard turbo style mufflers that I could put in front of the rear axle assembly. I do plan on putting the tail pipes UNDER the rear end as Roger stated in a thread. I also want it quiet. I have two Thrush turbo mufflers and 3 boxes of BOOM Mat in my shopping cart. Want to hear opinions on using round rear mounted mufflers or oval mufflers in front of rear axle assembly. Don't want to buy 4 mufflers like mine had stock

Put this where the caralytic converter usually goes
Ultra Flo? Welded X Mufflers - DynoMax® Performance Exhaust

Put these where the stock Jag muffler are

Put these in the voids where the stock resantor were right behind the wheels.

Link it all together with 2.25 pipe and you will have a super quiet system that offers no loss with a Moderate cam 350 or mild cam 383 up to 380HP. The key is the X pipe muffler that blends the pulses and thus properly distributes the flow across the two somewhat restrictive but quiet turbo mufflers which have internal bends. So you get sufficient flow and major noise reduction. If you have moderate cam 383 step up to 2.5 inch pipe.

There you go... a super low cost system that will flow and be ultra quiet.

Default V8 Exhaust

Hafrod,
X pipes do quiet the system. My 77 XJ12L has Flowmaster Super 44's - exactly what you do not want. But something that size in the rear muffler pocket and a crossover will give a quiet system. Mine is quiet at cruise, windows up. Romp on it, that is a different story. System is 2.5".
I also insulated the rear pockets and reinstalled that factory fiber board. Dropped the trunk temperature 20 degrees F.

I have used a 2001 XJ8 middle muffler ( has 2 pipes in and 2 pipes out ) where the old XJ6 cat used to live.

Connected to the rear stock (4) XJ6 mufflers and tail pipes.

That same XJ8 muffler is connected to the front down pipes.. Cheap quiet effective.
