My own fault for jumping the gun... thought about getting transmission rebuilt before the install just because mileage was unknown. But figured, it seemed ok when i drove it before....
Shoulda listened to myself..... apparently the pcm bin file is from a 95 and the drivetrain is a 94, so the code 83 i was getting was saying pwm solenoid failure, made no sense as pwm wasn't introduced until 95.. well........ being as the pcm was looking for it and it wasnt there, it was never locking the torque converter..
Its possible that my entire problem is torque converter, but being as trans has to come out anyway might as well get it rebuilt...
The issue is non existent if i drive like a normal human being, however, thats not me! I have all this new power and i want to use some of it!!!!
like i said, if i drive normally everything fine, but if i get into it, something goes horribly wrong, it will take off like a bat out hell, then theres a bang/pop and i have no forward gears and a jangling noise from transmission, i then have to stop the car, moving up to neutral doesnt help, go all the way to park and jangling goes away, back to drive and all is good again, unless i give it too much gas...

Pcm is the brain, the computer, sending it back to the guy that tuned it, having him change the transmission file to the correct year, and then getting transmission fixed as well... I cannot blame the tuner as all he did was change parameters for the engine mods etc, so he updates the existing file.. someone has been in there before, as the transmission thats gone bad is a 95, (well, it has pwm stamped on pump, so its later than engine) all would have been good with it once the 95 file was installed however, whoever did it, neglected to add the wire into the harness that controls it!!!

Pwm, pulse width modulation... 95 and later transmissions use it for the torque converter lockup, 94 and earlier use the old school, on or off!
the main issue is that the code 83, does not turn on the check engine light, so unless you are scanning for codes you wouldn't know there was an issue..

Got it. Learned something. I think my transmission is a 93, and the engine a 94. There fore, the 94 PCM manages the transmission just. It took some doing to get the converter lock up wired right.

Been a while since updating, car is still down, however last weekend i gained some forward momentum.... on april 18th i ordered a rebuilt 94 4l60e online as i was unsure of the year of the trans in car as like stated earlier someone had installed a 95 bin file in the pcm for the transmission, thats all sorted now and its back a 94 file. Anyways, back to transmission woes... web site claimed trans was in stock, so i placed my order, 2 days later i get an email saying please allow 10-14 business days for trans to be built, tested and shipped, would have been nice to know ahead of time, luckily i dont need the car so ok, itnis what it is at this point, 14 days come and go, 20 days, i reach out and am told there was a small delay and it was ready and would ship that friday.
Friday rolls around and i call for a tracking number, phone goes to a full mailbox, so i email, and gets bounced back as undeliverable... ok, non ow im pissed, go online to website and find a chat box, am told trans is not yet buklt but they are working on 94s.next week, should ship next Friday, and beacuse of delays they will refund.me 100, ok, they are working with me, there is a pandemic going on and then they had the dams break in their area.
Another week goes by still nothing, get through again and demand my money back!, they say ok, been two weeks still no sign of it, every person i talk to says something different, will talk to my bank monday as i paid via credit card,
I will not post the name of the company on here but will freely tell anyone that asks in a pm. Up9n reading more reviews of company i am not the only one with these issues. But everyone seems to get their money back or a trans eventually...

Was supposed to be ready yesterday, but it needs a new output shaft, which they didnt have on shelf!, was hoping to reinstall this weekend, but may be next weekend now, unless of course part showed up today and then i will have it back tomorrow......

Transmission shop valled this morning, its ready... i have already picked it up, now trying to get motivated to get under car....
clutches were toast, band was toast and forward sprag had come apart. Output shaft was not actually broken but in bad enough shape to warrant replacement. Glad to see some shops still do the right thing.. mechanic said he could.have probably used old shaft but didnt want to chance it. He showed me.it, it was pretty scored up,.

Transmission fluid!!! Lol, was too pooped to go yesterday, heading to parts store in a few minutes...
I swear its never ending!!! All in and running, but now i blew a power steering hose, fluid all over my nice clean engine bay.... im done for the day! Going to lay out by pool and have a few beers.. will remove all power steering hoses and have new ones made!! But not today!

having od issues, when car hits 4th/overdrive, it slows down and kicks back to 3rd, no matter what speed, will drive it a couple.of days and see if whatever is causing it frees up, might just need a good run, havent been over 55 in it yet, hoping it just needs a good 70 mph run to seat everything, if not trans shop can handle... i am realizing im no spring chicken any more, i can still do all the work, however i pay dearly for it for the next few days...
laying on your back liifting a trans onto a jack is a young mans game!!!

Hate to tell you this, but physical capabilities pretty much go down hill from here. It takes me two days to change the oil. One to get the car up and drained and another day to get it back together and down. The good thing is after you retire you have plenty of time.

Dropping from OD to third AKA not enough torque to pull OD??? Seems counter intuitive with your description of "screams". 70 % OD x 2.88 is pretty tall. although my LT1 pulls it just fine.
Could it be that you LT1 is more on HP and less on torque? .
OTH. the mechanic that built the 4l60E might have something to offer in the trans controls..

My 2 cents:
Not sure if you mentioned it but did you replace the converter as well? With broken parts there is a possibility that the torque converter is compromised as well.
Symptoms indicate that the torque converter is locking and unlocking itself.
Nothing on a rebuilt trans need to be "seated" at speed.
It either works properly or not.
Torque converter lockup and shifting on a 4L60e is controlled via solenoids, so the possibility is that you have faulty solenoid/s.
Trying to run at speed will only do damage to the transmission.
Have the tranny shop check it out.
