? Need help with a hard start, weak idle and engine miss/flutter during acceleration?
I am dealing with an engine that will always crank but only start normally 20% of the time. Mostly I have to go through this cycle of running the fuel pump while in reverse then turn the engine over where it wants to start or starts with a very weak idle for a second or two then dies. I usually get it started after several minutes of the above. Once I get it running, there is a distinct miss/flutter until I accelerate up to approximately 25 mph where I experience a more normal acceleration. This cycle is repeated as I accelerate from every stop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Same behavior hot engine versus cold engine?
Exhaust excessively smokey?
One really easy place to start:
Check the duct between the AFM and the throttle body. Secure, no rips, no leaks?

I am happy to report that I ma have resolved my issues. I swapped out the cold fuel valve/injector and it is much easier to start the car. The true test will come shortly as cold weather is approaching. I raised the idle speed to approximately 850 rpm which took care of the weak idle. I swapped the aftermarket fuel pump with a used Lucas pump and I have not had a flutter/miss issue. I hope these issues remain resolved so I can work through other issues like repairing the right gas tank that is leaking.
