Default Need some advice on value.

Hey guys, i'm helping a buddy try to sell this toilet. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/p...project-51854/ I've tried to reason with him that it's not worth what he's asking. He's finally coming around i think. He's talking about having me part it out. The body is mint. The only rust is trunk and drivers floor pan. The rest is really nice. Is there a market for body panels? The interior is shot. Leather is toast, wood all needs refinishing. If the car was not apart it would probably be an easier sale. What's the value of this thing, both as a whole or as parts?

Thanks.

Sounds pretty rough. Might be able to get a few hundred dollars parting it out. As a whole car...scrapyard value, I'm afraid.

Cheers

He refuses to see this. The crappy part is i work with/for him and it's taking up valuable space in his shop, which he also refuses to see.

From your description, I bought a car in about the same shape or better and paid 450. Ended up parting it out and scraped the shell, block, trans and gas tanks for 300. Hope that helps you determine value.

I just sold 240 pounds of steel (scrap water heater and some other little pieces) for $24 at the recycling place. If you want to maximize the scrap value, separate the different types of metal and haul it in. If it has catalytic converter, cut that off and sell it separate. Pull all the wiring and heater core, aluminum head and wheels, gut the transmission and sell the case as aluminum casting.
