Default New 87 XJ6

Yippeeeee!

Saw this last week, had one same exterior color 20+ years ago....yikes maybe 3o.

Certainly not a trailer queen but a heck of a lot cleaner than anything I can find in Upstate NY.

I decided I wanted one as I begin to morph from my 35,000 mile per year driving....I have a 22 Volvo S90 and it's great but when I don't need an economical safe cruiser I wanted to go a bit more analog.

Seller is a nice guy, no rush for pickup due to holidays so I'm able to get a few quotes for shipping it up here for a long winters nap.

I'm a frequent poster over at the XK8 side so watch out. Loads of questions coming.

Congrats, you stole that, I was watching. I have a similar '87, Dorchester grey, I also bought on BAT but paid a bit more than two times what you did. I wasn't sure about the title description so hope it doesn't present any problems for you. I used Sherpa transport earlier this year on a long distance buy and they did a good job, great communication while the vehicle was enroute. The view over the hood when driving these feels so regal. Again, congratulations on a great buy and let us know when it arrives.

Will do!

I spilled the beans to my wife and daughter over dinner today at my sister's house.

Me smart....I showed the front pix first and they both said what a beauty....you should get one....bwahahaha!

Thanks for the tip on Sherpa, I'll reach out to them in the a.m.

Guy put a lot of $ into the car this year....interesting that it went no reserve.

Regarding title....what was your concern? TMU?

Is yours red leather w.Pepperpots?

Yes, I have the red leather with the pepperpots. I really didn't want grey but that Mulberry leather did it for me.
The carfax on yours stated "branded title" and I don't know what that means but some states are pretty persnickety about what they'll let you title.
I've only used Sherpa once so be sure to shop around and do your homework even though my experience with them was positive.
The prices have taken a hit the past year so your timing is great. I picked up a low mileage 2004 XJ8 earlier this year for quite a bit less than it would have gone for last year and they still look to be dropping. Good luck and see you around the forum.

Good choice. The Series III is the most modern of all antique automobiles. There's a bit of olde world in it for sure. Built like a tank and drives like velvet.

These are great hobby cars. Almost everything is easily DIY-able. And virtually every possible fault, and the fixes, are well known.

Cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome sir.

I watched that auction, I agree that interior was stunning....I'm usually at a $2,000 disadvantage to people closer to the auction for cars fron non rust belt states. As for 300's...Check out the 96 that sold yesterday.....I had the identical car in 2000....wouldn't have gone that high but add shipping and yikes.

As for mine, I can wrench a bit but suspension work will be by other$. I'll plan on replacing all the soft bits under the hood myself....just hope the rear rotors are good for a few.

Saw the recent post for the belts at NAPA!! Helpful.

One nice thing about the XK8 forum is the interchange.....I've bought a lot of $$$$$ parts at Mazda or Ford for a fraction of Jag list.
