Default Octane?

Hello Friends,

I have an '87 XJ6 engine that was rebuilt with .040 over pistons. A recent compression check showed all cylinders to be between 170 and 175 psi.
I was wondering if I need to switch to a higher octane fuel. It seems to run ok on 10% 87 ethanol, but I'm not sure if that's ok. Any input would be great.
Thank you,
George

YUP, from me as well. Both of my venerable critters do just fine on 87, E10 and all.
