Default Pininfarina S3

Decided to have some fun with some left over decals from an Alfa I used to own. Not bad eh…

What I like about the Series 3 restyle is that Pininfarina clearly recognised there wasn't a huge amount to do, the car being so perfect in style already. I had my Series 3 for 14 years and people always commented how elegant it was. Main improvement, I think, is the windscreen was given a greater slope; the original screen is a bit too upright.

The S3 does have those beautiful lines and looks refined, which is why people were sad to see it go away back in 1987. Hard to believe a car as old looking as the s3 was still available as new in 1992.

The Series III actually remained in production in V12 form until the end of 1992 - and it didn’t look old then!

thats what I said in my post. The car remained in production til 1992. And the S3 did look like an old car compared to a 1992 Benz and BMW. The world was changing.

A Series III Jag? ‘Tis the most modern of all antique cars.

Cheers

Yea the S3 was looking rather old compared by 1992. Dont get me wrong its my favorite of all saloons, but I am impressed by the fact that it was still being offered along side the XJ40 which was also a bit outdated at the time. Nowadays theyre classics that dont look like a 1992 Taurus, that’s all that was meant. Im glad they look like cars from the 60s and 70s. Shoot the 4.2 was definitely old when you compare it to a fuel injected 1987 engine out any car of the time.

Dated is perhaps a better word than old. Whats great though is that its from a time before touch screens and jelly bean design which looks really dated now.
