Default Potential Upgrades for 1975 XJC

Hello,
I have a couple inquiries about potential upgrades/ replacement parts for my newly purchased 1975 XJC.

Firstly, the exhaust system needs replaced, rusted through in numerous locations. I found a couple of brands that offer upgraded stainless steel systems but, they across the pond. Does anyone have personal experience/knowledge on particular systems?

Secondly, I'm looking for an all aluminum radiator. I can't seem to find one for my series/year. They either say Series I (up to 1973) or Series II / III (1977 onward). Again does anyone know if I can interchange between series?

Last one for now. I found an individual selling Triple SU carbs from an earlier Mark for $750. I was wondering if its worth the purchase and would they fit?

Don't know whether the carbs will fit or work, but cleaned up they would sure look pretty! Ian

Bradley - I too have a 1975 XJ6C. And I love it. It has dual Strombergs that I am super happy with. They shine up real nice also. I installed an aluminum radiator and dual electric 11" fans with a Davis Craig temperature controller Davies Craig 0444 Digital Radiator Fans Controller: Adjustable Temperature Range | eBay. Did away with the viscous fan. And I did away with all emission control systems. As far as the muffler system I did a lot of experimentation with the stock mufflers, cat convertor and resonators. My quest for to give her a voice. Not to sound hot-roddy, or like a knat; but something mellow but throaty. So... I took her to my local muffler shop (NOT a chain store) and have him recommend something. Finally went with dual "Mellow Tones" in the back instead of the stock resonators with straight pipe going to them. It's not loud but it's perfect. Befits my station in life (at 73yo but still feel and think like a kid) and my neighbors like the sound. I rarely listen to the radio. I drive most of the time with the windows open; just to hear the music.

Bill

I too have a 77XJ6C, and like Bills info on the radiator and exhaust. I went with a new brass 4 core in my existing shell and a Flex fan. It works well enough here in AZ. If I had it to do again, Bills looks good. My exhaust is still stock, but again I'm looking at Bills test. (how about a video Bill) Regarding carbs, I'm a Weber guy. More power, reliable looks fine.

On the basis of what I'd like to do with my Mk2 and am doing with my V12: Series 3 cylinder head and fuel injection, electric fan and water pump.

Not sure what you want a video of? But... I'm in the middle of a head gasket job that has lots of project creep right now. Taking my time to do it right and do other things while I'm at it.

Jeff - under the hood on top of the passenger fender well. But when it's there you can't read the digital temp of the engine from inside the car. So I bought a digital temp gauge and sending unit, installed it in the same plastic housing the Davis Craig sending unit is in,

Geneo - Sure, once it's running again happy to make a musical mix and post it.

and installed the digital temp gauge in the passenger side ashtray in the console.
