Default Project XJ next step super charger

Well this isn't exactly the next step but thinking it through.
Any body here with any experience with supercharging the 4.2 XK.
I'm think of fairly low boost and no inter cooler to simplify ducting.
The plan is a mega squirt for management.

That's a Novel but long and expensive way way to get 40HP. Consider that when Jag added a supercharger to the AJ16 they managed to get just 80HP with inter-cooling and all the technical resources of an OEM. No doubt tourqe would increase considerably so you'd make the more power at lower RPM's.

I know from experience an AJ16 conversion using a donor car could cost you way less, offer OE refinement and a 4 speed auto and net you the same or slightly more horsepower in the end if using Andy's bracket to increase the ignition timing... All that with out the risk of blowing up your engine / transmission.

An LT1 conversion would offer way more hosepower and overall performance for a nice price too.

The lower classes of English drag racing was dominated by supercharged straight six Jag engines in the 70's ...there are lots of resources from that era. For a street car it is pretty ancient history though.

I agree if I was going for horse power the LT /LS engine is the only real way to go.
Right now I have the SC left over from another car, I can get custom machining done pretty cheaply and I like the idea of keeping the XK engine.
More the cool factor than true performance. If I need horsepower I have the XKR

Nice idea to supercharge a straight six from the 50ties!
I had the same idea but have too much projects to actually start realizing it.
I have an XKR too (although the older version) and also have a Eaton (M112) on the shelf (and also a AJ-V8 balancer to drive the belt..I wonder if the crank shaft fitting is actually the same in diameter)
I like the idea of a supercharged straight 6 quite a lot.
It does however not make real sense because the engine will probably not last that long I fear.
Cracked cilinders, warped head and failing pistons and bearings are likely to show soon when getting ~330HP from a ancient XK engine.
Does not mean we should not try!:-)..

From the perspective of expected failure people have advised me to just put the AJ-27S in an old Jaguar..
But I haven't got a old Jag that I could do that to.
Keeping the straight six is making sense. (Value up)

I will be checking out on this subjects progress down here:-)!

Ekskaar, I love the polished cam covers, that helps me I was wondering what to do with them. I like to round Al covers of the earlier XK.
Of course the is a risk of engine failure but the old XK is quite solid the US has a low compression already. I will be very happy if I get any where near 330 ponies
