I need to replace the shocks in the rear of my S1 XJ6, and I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for brands/models/etc.

Boge, KYB, Koni($) come to mind, but perhaps there is a go-to model most thend to prefer?

Autozone has Gabrials on sale use coupon code AZSAVE20 and there is rebate too. I have no experince with them though but with the rebate and online coupon and free shipping you'll end up paying just over $200 for all four.

Below are my impressions of diffrent shocks based on experience.

KYB's are fine, a bit on the stiff side. Older units were bright white, now they are a less shocking sliver / grey.

Black Monroes are low cost, softer and average quality.

Gray Monroes made in Belguim are monotube, excellent quality, low prices and were blown out recently by Rock Auto. I bought a bunch and the are on the stiff side which is right for my car and driving style.

Black stock type bilsteins are great. Complient, good contol and feel. I inheritated a set from a 95 XJS rear cage I bought. They were sitting for awhile and failed in a odd way soon after I installed them. They got totaly stiff and almost locked up. Ususally shocks fail by being loose.
