Default Refinishing my Kent style rims

As most of us mid-80's Jag owners know, the painted Kent wheels take a beating and start to peel...especially on the edges. I took my wheels to a powder coat shop in Michigan and they are putting the base silver color (best match they could come up with at least) in the wheels and then I am taking them to a local paint shop to add the two-tone color.

I am considering changing that color from the black/dark gray to white which will match the color of the car. A small customization that I think may set off the color scheme better.

Any thoughts or has anyone done this to their rims?

FYI as a point of reference, the powder coat is running 85 a wheel and to add the two-tone at the paint shop is 35 a wheel. Total cost is about 500 bucks. Add 400 for new tires and 900 invested into this project.

Below is a pic of the wheels as they are now. Not a great shot but its all I have right now.... I will post pics of them again when the process is complete.

Cool idea but IMHO you'd end up with too much white on the car.

Probably too late. But before you start shelling out some serious cash why not use a spray can and paint the black bits yourself to see what they look like, and then start all the powder coat and paint process after you have decided on the colour.

+1 with Doug you need some contrast with the car.

I was thinking about that as well... it is really hard to visualize the exact look. Keeping the factory look is probably a safer choice.

In regards to the paint process... the powder coat place said it is really hard to tape off areas for two tone paint because the high temp tape does not bend easily. I could rattle can the black part myself but decided to have an auto quality job done. Not sure I have the patients for that and Id end up messing it up somehow. Besides, the guy is going to give me a deal on taking the front and rear glass out to repair some small areas of rust ( you know the ones Im talking about) and put new glass seals in....so I thought I would throw him some more business as a good will gesture.

Factory look.... final answer!

Good choice, you just won.

(NB, what I meant was to use a rattle can just to get an idea, before sending them to the Pro's)
