Refitting cam covers: sealant or no?

Default Refitting cam covers: sealant or no?

Hopefully putting everything back together soon. I see that the shop manual says to use sealant on the half-moon rear seal, so I'll do that. Do you folks like to use any on the underside of the cam covers as well?

Depends on the gaskets (if any). I'll either use Locitie 518 with no gasket, or use the black steel cored cometic gaskets with no sealant (excpet on the half moon seals).

mine have been in place since 1992 with no sealant and no leaks.
