Welcome to the Forum. You won't find many haters here. Beautiful car; love the engine choice. Lots of us have a V8 but most in the US have Chevrolet small blocks.

Hello, Shaun,
Members in here are quite Liberal; as in, they respect other's choices even if they might not like them and wouldn't do that to their own car.

You have rolled Whole lot of work into that car and it's turned out Wonderful!
RED and BLACK are my 2 Favorite colors. And the car looks downright Snarly!
I Like it.
I'd Drive That!!

I think it looks great. I like the front seats, what are they out of?

Being British, I'll just say it's not my cup of tea. I can't see how the wheels can have any movement at all before they hit the wheelarches

Beautiful build and craftsmanship. I have always thought that an XJ6C would be my ultimate build and I would do something similar, too bad they are so rare. Like Yellow series3 said, in the US you see a lot of small block LT/LS Chevy engines being used, probably because they are plentiful, fairly inexpensive, have lots of aftermarket performance support and the fact that many others have gone before and figured out the swap. While the BMW engine would probably be more difficult to source in the US I like that it is different. One of the biggest appeals to me in an engine is the visual statement when you open the hood, which you nailed. I have always thought a Jag 6.0 V12 with headers and Hilborn fuel injection would be a visual work of art.

Tell us more about the seats and what modifications had to be made.

How was the electronics handled with the engine conversion.

I'm a card-carrying NCRS Corvette restorer on the one hand, but also have a highly modified Toyota Supra on the other. I can go either way; my only thing is that it would be sort of sacrilege to modify a survivor that's low-mileage and museum-correct. Starting with a car that's already been well worn and chock-full of (or in need of) aftermarket repair parts is perfectly acceptable to me. I am always amazed at the ingenuity of skilled builders like Shaun. I like it, although I'm afraid those wheels wouldn't make it to any local car shows in Fort Worth unscathed unless I kept the speed under 20mph or trailered it.

Am I seeing X308 bumper covers on an S3? Curious what you had to do to make that work. If the width is that close, I wonder if anyone has ever tried modifying the front and back ends of an X308 to mount S1 or 2 chrome bumpers for a more retro look?

The bumpers required a substantial amount of work ,I would be very surprised if this could be retrofit the other way round

Electronics are not that complicated in anything pre can bus providing you have the correct technical data to hand, the bmw m60 can be run with around 5 wires to the engine loom iirc,I will do a full write up on the car at some point when I get chance

Workmanship looks absolutely superb. Does it get up off the floor when you start the engine like the old Citroens ?

The use of the X308 bumpers is interesting. On their own they make the car look way more modern.

Can we see a picture of the car with the ride height raised? I'd also love to hear how it sounds.

Thank you,it's a similar concept, the citroen uses hydrolastic fluid, this uses air,you have a control under the center armrest to lift and lower the car as you wish.
