Dr Phill and Clarke :

What a great example of team work. One term in USA speak is that one is the "gopher".

Get that, hold this, etc....

Clarke, your pictures show who made the sunroof ... Weathershields Birmingham Ltd !

I believe they are now part of Britax.

Hopefully not too late with the info.

Thanks Andrew, already chased up that. The only seal Britax have for XJ6 is the same one we already have. Most of their products are for newer models.
Weathershieds Birmingham is a dead end too, they are a roofing company with the same name.

Four weeks to the day, the hole in the roof is filled. No luck with finding a seal. I posted the S3 seal back today. Tomorrow we will seal it up and put the interior back together.

At least the rust has been stopped.

Shame of all the hard work to end up with a sun roof that can't be opened...

Isn't there a way to make a seal from a standard rubber?

Expired all options, the 3 local guys that do sunroof repairs don't even want to look at it. (warranty issues for leaks we assume)
We will assemble and seal it up for now and continue to chase options for when the BIG repaint gets done.
Could be a couple of years before that happens.

As it happens the drive cable for opening and closing broke today, so no worse off than before. If we eventually find a seal we can deal with the cable then.

It must have been in another thread I searched, but you are right about the wedges being a PITA to get right.

This probably explains why most less-than-new sun roofs (more than 3 years old) in this part of the world are sealed up with RTV or Duct tape at the first rain in the fall.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, Clarke.

Yeah, for sure a major "water intrusion" issue. Ageless and crosses many applications. From the "infamous Tops" to sky lights on buildings !
Leaking !!! Add mobility, and the issue is magnified !!

The one on my car does not leak. I've seen clues to cause me to sense that it may do that, soon! So, although in the spring or fall, driving with it open is pleasant, I'll desist ! leave it closed !

Billy rooted in the hay bins, Oh me !!!!
Why he does that when there is so much fresh graze, only a goat knows???

Default On The Road Again

Job finished, new dash pad in as well. Have had the dash pad for 3 years but never had a need to remove it before now. The Dr called the shot. Old one was getting a little tired.

Loving having "Miss Fireball" on the road again. Taken her out no less than 12 times yesterday & today.
Beats the hell out of using the adequate alternative to pop in and out. (2011 Jeep)

I'm sure we can re-furbish the old dash pad so it can be put into storage as a good spare if ever the time arises that we need it. It only needs the covering to be re-glued in a few places.

Have been to see the final product after the paint work was given a quick buff and it's looking good. I'm pretty sure Clarke is a happy man.

Hello, bit of a long shot given your pics and post is fairly old, just that my sunroof looks identical. Motor drive mechanism on mine is a mess and wondered if you had any pics or your motor and drive assembly, thanks Paul

I am devastated!
After searching the WWW for Series One sunroof and finding nothing but Series Three, I thought that I was going to have to tackle it blind. But then....GOLD! an entire thread on my sunroof only to find that there was no success. Oh well, at least I now know that the roof liner is coming out for sure.
Seals are over rated, anyway. If the drains work, she's all good. lol
