Default Series 2 no spark . Alternator query.

Can anyone tell me if disconnecting the wires to the alternator will result in the car not producing a spark at the points or plugs? Many thanks in advance.

if you have a good battery then it will provide power everywhere, just not for long if you run lights, i have driven a car just on batter when a belt has broken not driving the alternator.......do you have power at the coil with ignition on? other test is to hot wire coil directly to battery and then crank

Okay thanks. Just wasn't sure if it was needed to make a circuit. Will look for the problem elsewhere.
