Default Series II Opus

Calling series II fuel injected V12 folks asking if anyone knows where failures originate in the Opus ignition. Ok the amplifiers and resistors overheat- is that a symptom or a cause? Thanks all.

My 2 cents from 4 of them.

Amp in the V, stupid as it comes. The kit (looooong time ago) to move it was a success of sorts.
Plastic wheel with ferrite rod triggers, OK when cold, rods fall out when hot, and age creeps in.
Ballast block, too many issues.
Connectors, NOW, age related, NOTHING to do with distance travels etc, just plastic in any engine bay has a very limited life span.

Mine all went Crane XR. Tried the XR3000, worse than the Opus. XR700, Bosch GT40R coil, ICR13 ballast resistor, Tacho internal drive "thingy" altered to coil pulse, and then the common sense wiring, relay fitment, and 30 years later, still good as.
NOT A PLUG AND PLAY, many hours of setting up, but well worth it in MY opinion.

The 6cyl cars were all swapped for S3 dizzy and black box, messing with that Opus was a waste of my time.

Remember, I am Downunder, you dont state your cave location, and things vary, market to market.

RE-Opus was, maybe still is, an option for the V12's, dunno, never tried one.
