Source for reliable hazard light switch?
Getting my series III ready for winter, I discovered the hazard lights wouldn't activate, so I added that to the list of small items I had for my mechanic.
He's received 2 defective switches in a row by a manufacturer called URO and is waiting for a third to arrive on Thursday with no real sense if that one will be any good.
Anyone know of a different manufacturer for these switches?
Thanks in advance.

As reports roll in over time URO is proving to be "iffy" at best.
I agree that you should see what Barrat or other Jaguar specialists have to offer....bearing in mind that they might be selling URO branded stuff as well. Many suppliers offer two or three price/quality levels so you'll have to ask.
I would go for a genuine Lucas replacement, personally....although even *that* might not guarantee anything. Most of the old Lucas automotive stuff is being made under license by some other outfit.
All that being said.....
In the foggy and dark areas of my memory I'm thinking that replacement switches required a slight wiring change....two wires flipped around or something like that. I'll try to find some info.
Good luck
Cheers

I should have listed all the people I tried before asking the forum for help. SNG Barrat, Motorcars Ltd. and Welsh Enterprises were on my list and, at least according to their sites, they couldn't help.
JagBits did have it and, hopefully, they've sent the part directly to the shop.
Thanks,
Rhett

I copied the "addendum" I inserted in my Owner's Handbook regarding the wiring that works. Since yours is a 1984, pass this to your mechanic to compare with what he/she has:
the Hazard switch has raised numbers in the rear, next to each contact/terminal.
you will need it a powerful light and maybe a magnifier, but they are there.
*the First Color is the Solid, the Second is a Stripe or Dash.
Connector #1-Light Green+Blue wire
Connector #2- Light Green+White wire
Connector #3- Light Green+Red wire
Connector #4- Light Green+Green wire
Connector #5- None
Connector #6- Light Green+Pink wire
Connector #7- Green wire
Connector #8- Brown+Orange wire
1) my "theory" is that later XJ hazard replacement switches (1985-1987 US cars), might be slightly different, so when you replace these switches in pre-1985 cars, the wiring doesn't work as with the original switch being replaced. This is what happened to me the one and only time I had to replace the hazard switch.
2) when the upper and lower plastic covers (nacelles) are joined, a square cutout / opening is seen on the left side; This square cutout has a "tolerance" or manufacturing error of 1/16th" so when the nacelles are placed over the steering column, butted and screwed in place, the front side of the cutout rubs against the side of the switch, making it hard to push up or down, eventually breaking the switch. In my car, I filed 1/16th" from the cutout and this resolved the "sticking" of the switch.
