Hi all,
Fixxed most things on my 85 Soveriegn. A/C bows hot AND cold. Windows go up and down etc.
So time for a run , son , check the stop lights. Nothing dad!. Again nothing.

Fuse OK , washers, horn works ---same fuse.
Jumped the switch on the pedal --- nothing.

Tail lights , reverse lights, indicators, number plate lights all OK.

Some schematics show an inline fuse,

Can anyone give me an idea where it is.
Also where is the bulb failure unit, and could it be the problem??

Might be the brake lamp failure unit.

Go into the trunk and remove the forward trim panel. The BLFU is mounted on the forward bulkhead behind the panel. Looks a little like a relay...has white/slate, black/yellow, and green/purple wires.

Unplug the green/purple wires ...remember where they go...and jump them together. Do the brake lights now work?

Or, using a test light or meter, and with a helper pressing the brake, see if you have 12v on the green/purple wire on terminal "B" of the BLFU. If you don't, then you have a problem upstream.

If you do have 12v here then check check for 12v on the two other green/purple wires. These go right to the brake lights. No voltage means a dead BLFU.

If you do have 12v here then you have a problem downstream

All sorted .

Number1 : don't get the cruise switch and the brake switch mixed up.
Number2 : Only the "poms" could come up with a lever arm switch for the brakes.
Number3 : 30 years baking in Australia dries things out a bit.
Number4 : WD 40 ---- toolkit in a can!!

it could also be the Brake Switch at the brake pedal itself, a known issue in these cars.
