Default Ticking/wine sound

So drove the jag up to a friends place today. 2 hr drive on the freeway.
I noticed two things.
1) lots of wind noise from the windshield at 120-140km
2) lots of noise from the dash that sounds like the speedo
3) I still can't believe the auto 3 spd doesn't have overdrive. 120km is like 3300 rpm which seems high.

Is this Normal across the board?

Air leak noise, like a whsle? "Wind rush" noise....like the outer rubber not fitting properly; ie: protruding and catching the wind?

What kind of noise?

A cable drive speedo can make a clicking sound, as can the cable itself

Is this a Series II car? If so, many had a 3.31 axle ratio...so your RPM at that speed sounds about right. In contrast, most Series II cars had the 2.88 ratio. 80 mph = 3000 RPM

No just wind on the windshield. I guess it's pretty upright.

Yes that's the sound. Does it need service or is this just the way it is.

Yes it's the last of the series II a 79. I guess I could change the ratio if and when I need to fix or replace.

Thanks!

Ticking may be an slight exhaust leak at manifold..

Wind noise may come from the lack of "whistle stop(s)" these are located just under the chrome drain that runs around the edge of the roof and at the top of the area between the front and back doors.

They are small about an inch long and snap into place, they are there to stop wind whistle,..yours may be missing - fell off or for some reason taken off and not reinstalled. Series 3 cars.
