Default Trailer towing

Anyone do any trailer towing and have any advice? I'm thinking specifically of a boat. I know the manual says up to 3000lb. (I think). I'm thinking of less than 2000 lb. What kind of hitch, what suspension assistance etc. Any help is appreciated. I just had the self leveling suspension removed (it didn't work).

This came up a while ago. I think in the XJ8 section, but I can't be certain.

One thing you need to be sure of is that what you buy is suitable for the XJ40, I am fairly sure that X300 hitches will not fit.

I suppose that if you were going to be towing on a daily basis then heavy duty shocks and springs would make sense.

Although if all you are considering is launching your boat some weekends then a normal suspension set up would suffice.

Just stay within the weight limits set for the car, and for a larger boat a twin axle trailer would be a good idea.
