Default trans. fluid level

Just changed trans. fluid & filter in series III. Put car up on all 4's. Drained & filled running car at idle speed and shifting through all gears twice. Checked level. Registered 1/2 way between low and full on the HOT measurement on dipstick. Drove car 15 Mi. (24 Km.). Checked fluid level, was fine, 1/2 way on the HOT measurement. All good. Checked next day (engine cold), and fluid level is way past all HOT full measurements by almost 1" on dipstick. This seems contrary to any other vehicle that I have worked on. I am inclined to believe the measurement after the vehicle was driven 15 mi. Usually the cold trans. would have a lower dipstick measurement, not ? Any input would be most appreciated. Also, car shifts fine, runs out nice.

The old BWs drain down rather quickly, thus your high reading after the car sits overnight.

IMO, disregard the "cold" readings entirely and just go with the "hot" readings exclusively

Another old rule of thumb is and this applies to all automatic transmissions regardless of manufacturer. The only time that the level is found to be correct is when the tip of the stick is too hot to touch.
