Default Trans swap

Hey there, I have a 1989 sovereign with the 4.2 six cyl motor, the auto trans in it is stuffed by what I'm told as it won't select neutral or reverse, I was wondering what other transmissions are interchangeable as I have access to a few parts cars although they are xj6s so I believe they have 3.6 or maybe 3.2 straight 6

Might want to go with the so-called 'quarterbreed' kit from John's Cars. I did that years ago and put in a Chevy TH350.

I'd have an idea or so, but, Tame M,'s location is not known. Logistics differ...

I began to read a great tech article in my latest Street Rodder magazine. Old KF sporting Chevvy big block and 700r upgrades the transmission. 4l85E. Bigger and burlier. But, needs an after market kit to manage it's electrtonics.

Could, at least in theory, be extrapolated to Tame's car !!!

I'd prefer to use a jag one as I've got a few options there, the eventual plan is a snallblock v8 into the jag anyway because I believe it will be better for handling the abuse I give my vehicles, want it road legal for the mean time so I can pull my holden off the road for an overhaul
