Default Transplant: is this entirely absurd??

I have an '89 Marelli V12 XJS and a '76 chevy conversion (ugh) XJ12. The former has a *perfect* engine and transmission, the latter a *perfect* body.

You see where this is going.

You guessed it, V12 transplant/retrofitting on the XJ12. How high up on the scale of autophile absurdia is this suggestion?

Look at them below, like the best of friends.

Not absurd. You'll want the both fuel injection and ignition ECU, ECU harness, engine electrics etc from the XJS donor car. You'll need 'em for the XJ12...and the radiator....and possibly lots of other things

The fundamentals should be a 'bolt in', assuming mounting points haven't been cobbled. The long, long list of details will take some effort

Others will chime in

Cheers

Thanks, Doug.

In principle (just in principle), save for consumables and all new mounts and assuming everything on the XJS is there and in good working order: I should already have all I need to do it, right?

Never tackled anything like that before.

I think so.

Might need a different driveshaft.

Let's wait for others to chime in as I'm surely forgetting 'something'

Not an absurd idea. Set things right as you see it. Just one mans opinion...The heavy V12 is more suitable for a wafting saloon. The brash and light weight Chevy is more fitting for a sports car. If you've got the space, time and wherewithal then do. It probably would be best to drop and swap the entire front subframes with engine attached. Good luck. I've got a v12 drive shaft with the center bearing from a XJ12 saloon message me if the one from xjs wont fit.
