Default trunk lid misaligned help

so i noticed that the trunk lid has a 1 mm gap on left side and a 3 mm gap on the other, no gap on the up left corner and a larger gap on the upper right

if i loosen the hinge bolts and twist should it straighten ?

I would think so; can't hurt to try.

Aw man, panel alignment is a pain haha.

Id draw around the hinges so you can see where they were before you loosen them. Even if it's not in the rents alignment because if you can get it to line up again and close it's very frustrating haha.

i had this problem with my bonnet, I tried to fix it with out marking it and it took me several half days to get it right again, and even then it's still not in the right place haha

do not get in the trunk without a phone, in case you get stuck in there.

ideally, you want a solid "gage" that is inserted on each side, something that doesn't scratch the paint, then while inside the trunk you loosen the bolts that hold the lid to the hinges, and someone else outside taps the gage into the recess to move the lid left or right so that it is even all around. You might have to temporarily remove the "U" Catch at the bottom center so that it moves freely side to side.

A couple of ideas. Definitely apart from being locked in the boot !!!

1. Loosen the boot hinge bolts to barely snug. Remove the "U" shaped catch for a couple of reasons. First ands foremost. Safety from captivity. Second, freedom to move the lid. Closer it and secure it in the closed position with a weight or extra help. With padded tools wedge it into alignment. With a bit of luck, the snug position of the fasteners will keep the lid aligned when you allow it to open, with some manual deterence. Tighten and hope !!!

2. A bit more imaginative and perhaps "half cooked". Measurements is the theory!!
Fore and aft. Star board and port. Lid vs opening. Gap for and aft. Star vs port. How much movement is needed ?

With lid open and fasteners snug, move the lid. Tighten and try.

Closer and closer, great. Keep on it .

Rain last night. Spoiled out door plans? I see sunshine, just mebbe.
