Trying to take advantage of parting out
I bumped into a guy that is parting out his immaculate 1988 XJ6. He reckons he can get more for parts than the car. I have a 1986 XJ6. What can I take advantage of? He wants it gone ASAP and can get me a great deal. I'm talking 100 bucks for a new engine with 80k miles on it if wanted. What should I take advantage of and replace? Is anything even transferable?

That's a tuff one to square. 88 as in XJ40 and 86 Series 3 share no common parts that I know of other than ball upper joints. The wheels should fit earlier cars too. That all I can think of quickly.
"wants is gone asap" ....Jag parts take a long time to sell there isn't much demand. I had a 88 with a PERFECT interior and it ran great but had a few dash electrical gremlins and it took me 3 years to sell it for what I paid for it which was 500$.
