Default Twin SU Part Question

I need a couple of question answer about my XJ6 Series 2 1978

The carbs look like they are missing something on the top of them but I can't find the name of the part, I have seen from photos and there is a bar that runs in between the two I'm not sure how important it is to have.

Second is does anyone know where I can find the rubber grommet located on the left it has perished.

Cheers

Mikey,

Its been YEARS, but that was once a vac hose and memory is, part of the AED choking device/emissions nonsense.

Mine were all plugged, and similar to that in the day.

Fuelmiser has a kit HYP-59, from Sprints years ago, and is a selection of blanking plugs/caps. Sadly they dont last long in there, so a fuel hose and a cut off bolt does the job.

Not sure on the grommet you are asking about.????

I think the grommet you are referring to is really a bushing for the shaft turning the butterflys in the carbs. I had to make mine out of brass.

Bill,

Well done, I did not see the 2nd red circle, joys of one eye.

Yes, it was a bush, probably still available, but a brass etc is the best.

If you have no luck elsewhere, this is the go-to guy in the US for SU carbs, so he may have the linkage bits.

He's also the GO TO guy for Strombergs. And gives OUTSTANDING service! Highly recommended.
