weight difference between US and Euro?

Default weight difference between US and Euro?
Hey, I was reading through the factory manual and noticed the US car is listed at ~4900lbs and the Euro model ~4000. Does someone know where all that weight comes from? I thought by the SIII, the XJ6 was pretty similar all over the globe.

bumpers, emissions equipment & sunroof cars are of course heavier. I do believe the kents are heavier than the pepperpots also.
