Default What is the “service Interval Counter” DRC2894

I’m curious what the service interval counter located in the trunk (86 xj6) PN “DRC2894” I noticed mine was unplugged. I plugged it back in and noticed no effects. What does this control?

It's a counter that turns on the Oxygen sensor light every 30,000 miles ( I think - might be 50,000). Won't affect running in the slightest.

OH! That makes sense. Does the button located on the service interval counter reset that when it illuminates?

I suspect it does. I've never had a car with one.

yes the button turns off (resets) the dash warning light for another 45 thousand miles.

that does NOT mean you have to replace the O2 sensor, it means it's time to support your local parts supplier by buying another sensor.

that makes sense I assume that’s probably why it was completely unplugged.
