Where is my compliance plate???
Hi troops,
I have aquired a 1966 XJ6 that has had a 351 put in it. Great car to drive but not my thing so im trying to sell it. When i have gone to advertise it, the online company has told me that they never made a 66 and that it would more than likely be a 68 after they performed a VIN check.
All documents and registrations say that it is a 66 however for the life of me i can not find the compliance plate.
I would very much appreciate if some fellow jag owners could help me and point me in the direction that it could be and if it might have been moved.
Thanks all,
Shane.

the VIN plate (Vehicle Identification Number) is usually rivetted to the A pillar of the driver's side.

ok, you don't have to pull any parts, the plate would be affixed with rivets to the inside of the A pillar, visible through the front windscreen glass, usually on the driver's side.
if no plate there, look in the engine compartment, at the firewall/bulkhead behind the engine, or a plate affixed to the inner wheel wells on either side.
if nothing there, look for a sticker applied to the front door jambs or on the doors where the strickers are.

contact the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust at Jaguar Heritage and ask them where the VIN is on a 1969 XJ-6.
it might be that the original registration was done incorrectly and they typed a '6' instead of a '9'. But all cars have a VIN number.
by the way, the car looks very nice, the engine conversion looks very well done.

I have the VIN. It's impressed in the front wheel arch. I'm just trying to find the build/compliance plate as I want to sell it.

for the Build Date you need to contact the JDHT and pay a fee for your car's factory build record.
