Where is teeed sending unit located on a series 3?

The speedometer transducer is on the side of the transmission, RH side, towards the rear. You'll see the wires.
Yours is an '82 Ser II, isn't it? You *might* still have the older cable-drive speedometer....as the change from cable to electric was 1982-ish
