Question Wipers, flashers ignition switch, xj6 ser3

1983 XJ6. Series 111
Installed new wiper motor (recon), new wiper stalk switch (SNG Barratt), new Flasher Relay (SNG Barratt)
When Wiper stalk installed, of the four positions available, (intermittent, off, slow, fast), only fast position worked, at slow wiper speed, though no wiper parking at all.. Better than nothing, I suppose.
When new flasher relay installed, flashers fine, except hazard warning light activated on left turn choice. However, wipers now operate by stopping four times per stroke, according the flasher relay speed, and there is a nasty buzz from flasher relay on wiper delay position, but no wiper delay movement.
Question:
Are both wipers and flashers controlled by ignition switch, and if so, how and what can be done?
Also, if there is a separate wiper relay, where is it located?
Any help appreciated, thanks
