All automotive glass must meet some D.O.T. specifications, regardless who makes it. Not to mention there's better glass technology today than 20 years ago, but what you need to make sure is that whoever does the job has experienceinstalling the same glass on the same model of car.Ask for references and if they cannot give you any, they're just "practicing"with your car. Walk away. It's not the glass, it's the installation that matters. I was looking atthe Service Manual for my 1984 XJ-6 and the removal and replacementdictates very strictsteps and procedures. Not like a modern car where the windshield just "sits" on the opening, literally being "glued" with silicone to the frame and covered with a piece ofedging. Also I recommend you replace/renew all the rubber seals around it. Those are available. (check with Ken at Motorcars Ltd.). Carefulwhen pullingthe chrome finisher!

You actually have 3 seals on both the front and rear windshields on that car. Replace them all. Go aftermarket on the glass. You can't go wrong there.
