Default XJ-C

Last year i got myself a XKR convertible (2000). last week i bought a XJ6-C (4.2 1975) after the misses asked if we should invest in an other Jag. Could i refuse? So, is started browsing the net and found this one quet nearby. I traded in the Toyota MR2 (1996) and now i'm a happy man. Ofcourse there are some little things hat need doing. The steering wheel is rubish (mountey instead of the original). There is a large former spilling of brake fluid that needs to be taken care of. The horn is pityful so needs to be replaced. Just tiny things. I started socking the leather to soften it. After that the leather needs to be coloured again. I expect to have multiple questions so will be back here soon.

Nice score Ron. Is she an auto, or an uber rare manual? Eitherway it looks like you've got a keeper (you do know how rare XJC's are?) Whereabouts are you situated? From the look of those bare trees & leaden skies I'm guessing the UK. Though I guess it could be anywhere in the northern hemisphere. But it just looks like England!

I Love seeing these come out of the woodwork, because they're all Series 2.

How Cool!

The lady is restored 10 years ago to be an all day cruiser for business use. Something the Dutch tax office allows. We have a business use tax of 25% yearly on the purchase price when new. So for a 40 year old car it is much more friendly than on a new car. This one is with a G2 LPG tank in it. That is fine by me becasue LPG is less than 50% on the prise of gas. 60 cents against 1.60 makes sence to have a LPG tank in it. No need to pay road tax either becasue of its age. Because i have her for 1 week now we do need to get aquainted. Tomorrow is saturday so i will be getting behind the wheel.

May we enquire about the price? If it's not a secret.

The vendor asked 24500 (euro). But was very generous with the trade in of my Toyota MR2. That made it easy to say goodby to it. Had that one for 6 years and was not planning to get rid of it. But it was the Jaguar or the Toyota. storage space prevents me to have more than 2 hobby cars.

A fair price, for what it is. You shouldn't ever lose money on it, & keep it long enough it'll help fund your retirement.

Next time a bunch of guys are drooling over Nix and one of them ask me what I'd take for her, I'll tell them $15K just to see if they're serious!

I'm Astonished at that number!

Sorry, but your car has two too many doors to ever make the kind of serious money a coupe will make, everyday of the week. Mine too, for that matter.

I understand that but only takes one!

Early last Spring on her first outing, a Stunningly beautiful day in mid February, a couple of them were trying to figure out how they could get 10K together in a timely fashion and at that time neither the windows nor central locking worked!

There are days though, if someone offered me $50.00 I'd take it!

Today isn't one of them, but there Are those days.
