Default XJ6 Pics

Since this particular forum for the oldies looks like it needs a little activity, and since the gallery doesn't seem to work for me, I thought I put up a couple pics of the Ser III I used to own until a coupleyears ago. These pics were taken when it had 147k miles.

Cheers
DD

and for those who don't know Doug, he's very knowledgeable with these cars, (a lot more than Ken or me), when it comes totroubleshooting the 4.2 engine and in technical matters.

When he showed up recently in this forum, I knewhe was the kind of help some peopleneed here.

did it have like 100 miles on it or something???? It looks like my ride minus 150 thousand miles. Are those the original wheels?

Thanks everyone. And thanks, Jose, for the compliment.

Yes, original wheels.

The pics were taken when the car had 147k miles. It was my daily driver for years. I sorta obsessed over it

The Ser IIIs are really great cars. I'm sure Jose will agree. Built like a tank and drive like velvet. I'll probably get another one day.

Cheers

that's exactly why I have kept mine for 17 years, in a few months 18 years. That car is part of the family and it always starts. I bought it from the first owner.

Obsessive or not, still a damned fine vehicle Doug. Whoever got it got a deal, no matter what the price was.

Yeah, the new owner paid top dollar but knew that he was still getting a bargain...because there was no way he could take a typical used Ser III and bring it into that shape for any less. My loss, his gain.

I'm not complaining, mind you. I lavished the car with attention and money...and enjoyed every minute of it and never regretted even a single dollar.

I love my XJR and it really is a great car ....but it just doesn't havethat "certain feeling" that my old XJ6 had. I miss it.

Cheers and thanks

yeah.... the series IIIs are great - yours especially looks like a gem. I hope it's in good hands now. I have an 86 sovereign and 98 xjr. the xjr is my daily driver, but it will never quite live up to my series III. I can't wait for spring - when I wake up my 86 and rip it on a country road.

Like I said in the XJS forum, hard to pass along the great ones, and this one truely was. That was what we all strive for in our older cars, since most of us didn't own them when new, but would like to have. If I live long enough, maybe mine will be close.

Hey Doug, how about you borrowing my XJ-6 for a few months. Just send her home after you've had your way with her!

Here are a few images of my 1974 Jaguar XJ6 4.2. It's Sable with green leather interior - and due back from a big refurb of the engine in January. Can't wait.

not many of those left, best to keep it in top shape and start hunting for parts while they are available, and for the Series 2, not that many parts are available.

Even the Series 3 is starting to become scarce as more and more end up in salvage yards as 4th or 5th owners destroy and discard them.

Here are some pictures of my very cherished 86 XJ6. I drove this car through highschool, and needless to say put thousands into it. Every penny I had went into this car. (transmission, radiator, fan, shocks all around, calipers/pads/rotors, a/c repair, new wood, fuel filter/pump, countless bits in the engine bay, fuel system components, etc.. way too much to list. I've had the engine out once, tranny out twice, rear subframe out, blah blah blah...)
I've begun to drive it again. It has sat for a few years and needed a good tune up to get running smooth again, but it's back in action.

And Doug, it's nice to see you around. I've spent a lot of time reading your old postings on jag-lovers, and it's likely my XJ wouldn't be half the car it is now without your help.

Anyway, onto the pics. Just a few random ones, including some old ones from the engine pull, and repair to the engine bay from a leaky master cylinder. Enjoy!

...And last but not least, my real pride and joy.. A '75 XJ6L, series II. The body has been taken down to bare metal, wheel arches, doglegs, hood, and decklid have been replace due to rust. It's been prepped with seamsealer and tough primer. It has 68k original miles, and starts on the first try.
I haven't been able to find the time to finish it. It's all there, it just needs a little paint and reassembly.

The hood ornament was on the car when I bought it. The interior is origianl except for the wood which was a mixture of new and refinished.

Cheers
