It looks great - nice colour and the wood rimmed wheel works really well (the best I've seen). Here's my 1974 Jaguar XJ6 Series 2 - 4.2 long wheelbase. It's an early long wheelbase car finished in Sable with green interior. 36,000 miles from new and one previous owner. A fantastic drive.

yeahh, like they kept the nicer color combinations in England and sent us the bland colors over to the USA.

I will never forgive that. :-))

Heres a pic of mine. I had more but the site I uploadedthem too seems to have deleted them.

Not too fond of the color changing pink/red it has now. I think I'm gonna go with a gun metal/dark gray paint job. Should look real nice on it i think. The motor runs good enough and the tranny has a slight leak at the seal. The shaved door handles and side markers gives it a nice sleek look. Other than that the interior is in pretty rough shape and I want to swap the bumpers out for ones without the rubber and plastic.

gee wiz Doug! I am flabbergasted. What a gift your car was to the proud new owner. My 1982 XJ6 is an Arizona collector owned "driver". He bought it to drive while his other XJ6 was in restoration. Mine has non origional seats with cloth seating surfaces and vynil sides and head rests. Very perfect job, just not leather. I need my sun roof to open, the turn signals to work, 7 inch light set up on the wings (I have the surrounds and buckets, need the other stuff), and a steering wheel like the one you had. I also lust after a new wood dash....I could go on forever....seeing your car inspires me and scares the heck out of my wife ($). Thanks for the post and pictures. i get the "file to large" when I attempt picture uploads. ;o(

Mine is silver on dark blue interior...a great combo. Ill try to take some new pictures on a small pixel setting with my camera sometime when I have free time. ha ha ha. I am starting a new business, have 2 kids under 4 and a wife....you can imagine how much free time that combo allows.

Thanks, Walter.

Bear in mind thatowned the car for a good many years and it was in terrific shape when I bought it.It was pretty much just a matter of repairing and replacing things when needed as the years went by.....and lots of love.

Some things I did 2 or 3 times, like having the sill plates polished and the rockers panels repainted, etc. Regular use takes its toll and its easier (and less painful) to fix things as they come along rather than wait till there's a whole laundry list.

Keep an eye on Ebay for bargain parts. For example, I had the dash refinished but got all NEW wood for the doors and console for about $100.

The engine bay was the most difficult part. Lots of labor and time involved keeping it clean.

Good luck on your car and I can't wait to see pics. I would've loved a silver XJ6. Truthfully, the maroon/grey combination I had is something I would never have selected if I had a choice. As it turned out, though, it was a rare combination so I ended up thinking it was pretty cool.

Cheers
DD

and where did you get that giant leaper? goodness sake [sm=insomnia.gif]

is that your unheated garage? some garage I would add. If I had one like that I would
sleep next to the car. ( Jaguars are as good as sleeping next to a woman [sm=Awwww.gif]).

Like I always say, what I want is a garage with an attached apartment.

Jose, the giant leaper picture (and garage) belong to the previous owner. He was a Jaguar nut like the rest of us. Yes the wheels are origional style but are chromed, an exellent job also. I really like them. I would love some wire wheels or series 2 wheels, but thats all down the road. Thanks for the comments.

A couple pix inside my old shop about three years ago. The yellow oil pan in the first pic shows some of the "gas" that I had to clean out of that tank. Man, that was some thick nasty crud. I must have just finished reattaching the wing.

We need an engine shot too, right?
