Default XJ6 s2 paint code.

Hi all,
I know this topic has been done to death but I am having trouble IDing my paint colour.
I have found the dog tag on the LH rear of the car under the rear bumper.
It has the following code

E 050151

I cant seem to find a reference to this number anywhere. This is an Australian delivered car if that makes any difference.
Thanks again

Assuming teh Yellow beast in teh picture??.

I will look thru the paint code decifer software at work tomorrow, and see what I can find and post back tomorrow night.

Meantime I will try and stir the memory as to what that colour was called in the real world, Cannery Yellow comes to mind???.

OK, as promised, I remembered to do what I said, scary.

That code you gave means nothing to our system, surprised, NO.

A search using "Yellow", for Jaguar came up with the following:

Cotswald Yellow (79-80) D31818 212/FDE.
Yellow Gold (77) D30398

The years in brackets are vague on this system at best, so I generally ignore them.

I reckon that colour in the snap is Cotswald Yellow, but I have only seen one other S2 in that colour and that was a 1977 build date.

Hope that helps some.

Hi MJG

I'm not sure if you've found your colour match but if the yellow on your car has a green tinge to it in certain light it may be the Jag colour "Green Sand".

I have a '73 model in this colour and when I saw the the pic's of your car I thought it was the same.

I noticed you have done the chev conversion. How do you like it and have you run into any over heating at all?

Cheers

Default Paint code

Hello,
If your car is a 73/74 SII then the code is definitely ' green sand ' . As far as I know, that paint colour was discontinued after 74 but the odd 75 straggler may have been sprayed. My car was an Australian delivered car too - apparently only 2 in WA were delivered in that colour. I took mine back home to Canada when I left but I did see the other one from a distance on the freeway. I lived in Perth.

Hi Napoleon

The original posters car is a 77 model. It is my car that is a 73 model and is painted green sand. I did a bit more research after my post above and found a link to the paint codes and as you say, the green sand colour was only available in 73/74. So it looks like MJ's car is a later model yellow.

I like your car by the way. I think it's a great colour on Jags.

Cheers
Darren
