Default XJ6 series 2 oil pressure

Hi everyone, just a quick question on oil pressure. My series 2 reads around 60 PSI @ 2000 rpm +, and 40 PSI idle around 750 rpm. However when I engage drive which reduces rpm to 450 / 500 rpm it goes to zero. Is this something to worry about or just a faulty sender ? The oil warning light does not illumintate at the same time. Many thanks.

Likely the sender. The usual rule is suspect the sender first for oil pressure problems.

Thank you. I've checked the sender and whilst the spade connection is good the actual connection in to the unit is loose so looks like that may be the problem.

They do seem to fail internally. Apparently SNG Barratt has an improved unit, but I have not tried one.

I am using coolant temp and oil press sensors to match the Jag gauges that were purchased from Summit Racing. The gauges are working perfectly. Any parts house should be able to help you.
