Default XJ6 Series III Aux Air Valve - open to closed gap?

Hi everyone,
I currently have the Aux Air Valve off for other work, what should the correct gap be for cold = open and hot = closed ? The internal heater reads around 23 ohms instead of 33 per the book spec and when heated with an iron to the point I can't hold it there is still a small notch open. Is this correct ? I've barely driven it since purchase and it has a high idle around 1200-1400. It was parked for 20 years, so I've been changing hoses etc, etc, and just now finishing adjustment the tappet clearances and upper chain tension. I'm going to replace all the vac hoses too before trying to adjust the idle with the air block idle screw but wanted to make sure the aux air is working correctly while I have it off.
Pictures attached, frozen in freezer = "full" open, the other really hot = "closed" but with a notch gap , maybe 150+ ? Does it ever close completely and at what temp if it does ?
Thanks for any advice !
Cheers,
Brian

Hot notch still open

Cold bigger gap + notch
