It's always seemed a little ironic to me that the XJC only lasted two years, while it's erstwhile replacement the XJS. lasted over 20 years. Because it's not just rarity that lends the XJC it's extra special aura. It's just a drop dead beautiful car, always was, always will be. Whereas the XJS has been polarising opinions since 1975, & while it has it's legion of fans, they nearly always start their defence with "Well it ain't the prettiest."
I'd just like to have been in that board meeting of BL when they decided to sign off on the XJS & discontinue the XJC. I can tell you that I would have been a very vocal voice of dissent. Along the lines of "This is suicide!" But then, a model that ran for more than two decades can hardly be called a failure. & compared to other decisions that BL Board took back then, cancelling the XJC is really small beer.
PS I know there was an overlap between the two models. But I'm sure one of the main reasons that BL would have used to axe the XJC, was that they only needed one Pony Car, & they didn't want one to cannibalise sales off the other. That, & the ongoing issues with the side windows leaking.

It was my iPhone. I have to give credit Glistening Perfection in Newport Beach CA, for bringing the paint to a high level.
