Thought it would be interesting to see when folks bought their current Jag, what type, how many miles, purch price, how many miles since purchase?

I'm 45.
spent 35 years lusting after Es then XK120s then Ds, series 3s.
Bought an X300 1995 7 months ago, done 8000km (daily driver), cost NZD $7000 (about 5G USD), spent another 8-10000 on it now like a new one, drives beautifully...

Next Jag will have 12 cylinders and 6 litres, or possibly 4 litres and a blower....

1996 XJS great condition. $8,300 in 2012.
It was missing the undertray, had a cracked lower spoiler and the AC needed to be serviced.
Made my own undertray for $50, patched and resprayed the spoiler for $200, and fixed the AC myself for under $200 in parts.
It had just under 60,000 miles.

I bought a previous one that was rear ended.
I bought it with 57,000 miles for $10,000 in 2010.
Except for the cracked paint on the hood, and a tear in the piping of the drivers seat it was perfect.
I paid $1,500 to get the hood, spoiler (which I cracked myself), and passenger door resprayed. (door was hit by some jack...)

I think I'm getting better at this.

My next 96 will be cheaper with more things to fix that I will pay less for!

The XJ-S came home in 1994. It is a 5/85 build Coupe.

Me the second owner

Paid about $21K for it back then.

Had 54K kms then. Now 265K kms.

However, many, many Jags prior to that beast. Some new additions since also.

I have ONLY EVER owned/driven Jaguars, and I am just pushing 64 years.

The first was a MK7 in 1968.

i thought you meant how much when new, my XJS cost around $19,000. USD, in 1978?

but for my two Jags now, both V12s, cost me NOTHING, no money just signed titles, and promise to take them out from the back of the barn!

course lot of money spent on restorations and such, couple pix.

it is saddining to see these cars with low value down to nothing,
and of course some one will buy them now and then!

*Bought March 20, 2013
*1990 XJS Convertible; 84,400 miles at purchase, put about 400 more on so far (approx. - sometimes the speedometer/odometer doesn't work still)
*paid $5200; put in about $2500 more to fix fast idle, incorrect filters, speedometer transmitter, crank speed sensors and replace roof...so far...

But, I love her. I've ALWAYS wanted a V12 Jag, but never thought it would happen, especially not a convertible. We found her and it was love at first sight, especially when the specialty mechanic gave her a "this one's not the worst idea" bill of health at the prepurchase exam. The car is in outstanding condition and I have nearly all the service records, and a specialty mechanic :-) so I've taken the plunge. I love the e-types too but don't have the money for that, plus I want a car I can actually drive. I'm hoping she'll be with me a long, long time.

Bought my 95XJS 4.0 Conv two months ago for $10,000, - needed nothing. 134,000km. 500km later - still needs nothing. Will respray the hood due to stone chips - otherwise a happy camper.

Got it about 2 weeks ago for $7,000. 107K miles. AC is weak and it needed a new battery. Otherwise in great shape. Came with all manuals and maintenance records.
I'll be replacing the rack bushings, spark plugs, fluids, etc. Just to be on the safe side.

I bought mine in July 2013 for $9,700 in Annapolis Maryland. She's a 1995 XJS 6-cylinder coupe. I've only put a hundred or so miles on her.

Bought my !989 Jag XJS coupe a week and a half ago, $850, great cosmetically inside and out, water pump, electrical issues yes, some. Drives good, engine idles to fast but so smooth you can hardly tell its running.
Couldn't be happier!

Default Purchase Details

*1989 XJS Convertible, Signal Red 5.3 V-12 w/Marelli Ignition

*Bought mine April 2012, I'm 3rd owner, have complete service history and invoices, was next-to-mint condition and had been stored every winter in heated warehouse, but one side paint was faded. Had 72,400km, now has 93,800 (Put 21,400km in last 16 months)

*Paid $12,000CDN, and have spent approx. $4,500 on Tune up, K&N Intakes, all Brakes & Koni Shocks, Springs, and recently a good quality tear-down Paint Job. I've punched out all catalytics, removed mid-muffler, and added nice rectangle SS Exhaust Tips.

*I've just turned 56 years, and plan to keep it for the long haul, unless I'm offered a crazy dollar figure. -I've been asked three times, if I'm interested in selling, lately by the wife of a BMW dealer, and he contacted me saying he wanted first crack if I wanted to sell.

Loving the ride.

With the fantastic August we've been having? Just 100 miles?!? You gotta take that car out more regularly. You don't want that car just sitting around!
