Yes,I have always had luck with castrol.
Autozone auto parts here has special 5 quarts 20-50 synthetic blend and a filter for 24.99 not bad price.
Ofcource I need to by three gals since the shop manual says this thing takes 24 US pints.
thats a lot of oil...
Well,I'll know soon enough about gas consumption.Im going to take it to Vegas, with my tools ofcource.lol
Like I said the oil change alone will break ya.ha ha.

If it makes it to Vegas and back,I'll be a happy camper.500 mies round trip.
what scares me is all the gas in the oil, when I drained it.I guess its from weeks of trying to start car,I hope..
So if I make it back from Vegas,I'll change oil again.

Thus the reason for the larger oil filter, lots of oil to " filter" in there! I wouldn't overly worry about the gas, change the oil/ filter and call it good, gas is very " evaporative" shall we say and after a drain and fill and a long road trip all will be well. Keep an eye to the temp gauge on the trip.

I just changed oil,I used 20-50 Castrol High milage part synthetic blend.
Started up car,Oil pressure is about 80% on gauge.
cold car runs at about 1000 rpm's.Once car warms,it drops to 700 rpm's and about 40% on oil gauge
So seems to run pretty good.
The air pump is noisy.
Now how do I do timming with a light?Battery is in trunk,my timmimg light doesn't have long enough leads...Im going to test drive her in the morn.I'll let you guy's know how it goes.
Thanks again guy's

That oil pressure is FINE, worry not.

Drive time it, like I "think" I explained somewhere about midway thru "War and Peace". If I forgot, ask, I will explain.

HA, 500M round trip, nothing for a V12.

We took ours Anticlockwise around our Island a few years back, and 20000kms, and enjoyed it sooooo much, we did it again in the Clockwise direction. Averaged 11.2L/100kms (do the maths) on each trip.

Don't get hung up on the oil pressure gauge, mine starts off at around the 5 mark mark then when warm never seems go past 3.
The air pump is simply a waste of space, what a stupid idea to start with. I disconnected mine a while back and its amazing how much extra space is frees up in the "v".
the timing light issue, basically there is two ways of doing this, either a set of long leads to reach around to the front or use a second battery, one in another car will work, all it needs is power and makes no difference where that comes from.

Thanks for the reminder Grant,Found that chapter on timming, way back there.
I'll time her,and take her out for awhile.
Good idea Katoh, using an extra battery I'll try it.
Can't wait to get her out,and see how she handles..
Today's the day...
And after I smog her, that air pump is history.

That's a shame and I'm sorry it's up to it's tricks again. I wish you were closer as I'd help you in person get to the bottom of it.....so close yet seemingly so far. Oil? I'd buy WalMart store brand for the time being...even base store brands are better today then the best oil in that cars newer days. Sorry it's letting you down...maybe take a few days break and see how you feel then.

I'd also like to add the start relay isn't the most reliable piece of equipment, I'd at least try to wire in the Bosch or Chrysler one and see what happens.

I appreciate the thought JT.
For Now,I think ill take a breather.
You are right though.I'll go by the relay tomarrow, and hopefully gain my sanity.
St relay is only 17.00 That's not much.
Then we will se what happens.

well,I believe your right about the st relay JT.
I tested the relay and,as crancking eng it was fluctuating in voltage.Again..
So I took it apart ,and cleaned the two contacts, they where pretty burnt.
I put it back on car and checked voltage again, and it was steady this time at 10v.Car started and ran ruff, then shut off.
I checked voltagee on start relay again,it showed 2.6v this time, while cranking eng.( no start)
Guess i need another one.I'm going to get the Botsch start relay.I'll let you know what happens..

Forgot to mention one thing,
When i had ignition on,not cranking eng.I went around to fuel injector harness and unpluged it.As I pluged it back in I heard all injectors click. They shouldnt do that,? And also noticed power resister was very warm..i thought injectors should only click when eng cranked or throttle opened??

Here is something wierd,on my start relay. The connector with the two white and red wires one to starter relay, one to pin 26 at ecu, there is another wire, about a 12 gauge solid red wire, going to starter.on same connector.Does it go there? Its making st relay get pretty warm.??

Ok,Can someone check there start relay, and see if it's hooked up like mine,Please.
mine is a north American series.1984 5.3 HE.
Here is how mine is hooked up,as follows: C1 two wht/red wires,and a Solid red wire.C4 two wht/Blue wires.W1 B/G wire.W2 W/Yellow,W/Blk wires.C2 brown wire.
The reason I asking is my shop manual shows no wht/blk wire, and no wht/Blue wires. And no solid red.

Just want to confirm
thank you.

I dont have a NA car handy.

Where on the starter is that wire going to, sounds odd to me.

I suggest removing it and taping it up to prevent shorting.

Observe if that relay cools down. Thet relay will get warm if the cranking is for extended periods of time.
