Default 1987 XJ-S Wiper Motor Rebuild

I'm trying to rebuild the motor from my 1987 XJ-S wiper. Upon removing the partly rusted casing and armature, one of the permanent ceramic magnets crumbled before my eyes. Does anyone know what size permanent ceramic magnet and where I can find such a magnet to put back into the casing? One company I spoke with said it would cost $80 just for the labor of working on the electric motor - I'd hate to do that when I could pay a bit more and purchase a used wiper motor. Thanks in advance!

I have one that I sorta rebuilt out of my 88. It had rusted so bad under the magnets that they got pushed into the arm! I pulled it all apart, cleaned and lubed it and bonded the magnets back in. I also advanced the timing a tough so they are a little faster. The only thing I don't remember is if they will self park. If you want it just find the best "sold" price on ebay for a used operable motor and I'll take half that plus actual shipping from Huntsville AL.

Thanks everyone for your help. My wiper motor is a lucas. Once I get the new electric motor my plan is to wire in a 12v source through some relays to increase the speed (I read about that on one of these forums). I'm going to check on ebay for an xj6 motor, as well as the selling prices for motors. I would definately appreciate the email as well as suggestions for alternatives.

The casing from an 88 xj6 did not fit my 86 xjs. just tried to match them up. xj6 casing is narrower.

I am resurrecting this old thread. Has anyone tried to put the motor housing, magnets and armature from a different Lucas wiper motor on an XJS? It looks like the hosing from a TR6 or TR7 are the same, but I am just going by photos, I do not have access to measurements. My 78 wiper motor is solid rust but the drive gear and rack seem to be OK. I can get a used TR7 motor for about $50, I have not found anything for the XJs under $300.

I might as well bump this as well, as the wiper motor is dead in my '87. Wasn't going to address it until springtime, but might as well express my interest now in preferably finding a used one.

I've never messed around with any electric motors before, so I don't know what would need to be done to re-build mine. Would much rather do that than fork over $300 for a rebuilt or used one from eBay.

My wipers don't find home when turned off. They just stop. Is that the fault of the microswitch in the motor or a secondary power issue? Any advise would be appreciated.

I did buy the TR7 wiper motor and used the motor can with magnets, armature and brush board to resurrect my 78 XJS wipers. They do work but do not park. I don't think the park issue has anything to do with the wiper parts I installed. I started to look at the park switch but the old plastic was nasty and I decided to go with wipers that function, and park them manually, rather than break something else.
