Default 1987 XJS restoration specialist?

Hi everyone,
Nice to meet you all. Im looking/wondering if anyone would know of a restoration specialist in the NY area (or further). My father owns a 1987 V-12 and we have spoken about getting it into near New or better condition. We havent had much to connect together on in the last few years but I convinced him that we could get this car that we both really enjoy to better than new! One final thing for us to do together. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

I'm not in NY, but maybe some details on mileage, condition inside, outside, mechanical, known issues would help the topic along.

Good luck, great aspirations.

I am closer. Just south of Pittsburgh. Again, anyone will need to know the condition of your car just to get started. Then a thorough inspection would have to be done.
You could also try briarcliffclassic.com I had dealings with Bob Milstein, the owner, some time ago and liked him. He's been around a long time and from what I saw does nice work.

Not sure what you want. Do you want to write a check and have someone do the work for you? If so budget north of $100,000 ( nope not kidding if you want show car quality). More if you want prize winning quality. ( but it won’t be as pretty)
Do you want to do it all yourself ? If so what are your skill levels and what tools do you have. what condition are they? From Clean Newish Snap On to a mish mash of various old worn wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers.
There are some things that are extremely complex. The fuel injection for example. It doesn’t have an OBD2 plug so real detective work is required to figure things out. Beyond the ability of 95% of all mechanics. ( and that may be generous )
Now if you have good skills and good tools, the car isn’t rusty and the paint looks decent from a distance. You could get by for a few thousand maybe less depending on your goals and its condition. I’m preparing a Jaguar for my granddaughter that’s been in storage for 20+ years. I’ll have less than $300 in it. ( including a new set of tires) but I’ve been working on Jaguars since 1962 and I’m starting out with a nice car.

You can go to Mobeck.com. They have a slick new fuel injection system for the 5.3 liter V12. A bit pricy but it does eliminate a lot of the problem areas of the original and is programable.
