Default 1989 XJS wire harness compatible with what other years?

I bought a 1989 V12 XJS with Marelli ignition. Car had the infamous fuel injection fire. Car is mint other than needing a lot of wire harness's and misc parts. I am thinking the best is too look for a donor car. Can anyone tell me what years or VIN numbers are compatible for a donor car? The last six of my VIN is 164429.

....and then click on each individual harness listing. The VIN breaks for revision will be shown

Very helpful. I thought cars with VIN of less than 157118 are Lucas. This chart states VIN starting at 139052 and up are the same. Would this mean the Lucas system uses the same harness as the Marelli?

Not sure what you're seeing.

I just clicked on the engine harness, injector harness, and ignition harness listings....in all three case it shows one part number for "up to 157117" and a different part number "from 157118".

I should add that the "157118" breakpoint is in dispute. Other documents show a breakpoint something like 156989 or thereabouts.

Probably safe to say that any 155xxx-and-earlier cars will certainly be Lucas and any 157xxx-and-later will certainly be Marelli...leaving just the 156xxx a bit mysterious

Cheers

Correction!

Fuel injection harness is the same either way.

Engine harness for Marelli is different.

The "digital ignition harness" listing would naturally be Marelli only

A friend of mine rebuilds these cars after engine fires has made a few harnesses. He could probably make you one from scratch for about $600. He needs the main harness plug as that's about the only plug that he cannot seem to buy.

Bradz, I don't know how you feel about it, but I made my own. I totally rebuilt the Marelli harness from scratch. I found a local electronics shop where I purchased the stranded core coax. I made it to the 90 spec, as in 90, Jaguar (Marelli?) made the change to coax even on the amps. My car didn't have the fire, but something went wrong, and the car was taken to a shop that butchered it up pretty good chasing a gremlin, couldn't find the problem, and then seized it under a mechanics lien. I bought it on eBay not running. Took me about a month to figure it out, lots of suggestions over on Jag-Lovers, but really wasn't that hard. Lots of time, maybe 100.00 in materials. I'll be glad to send you my cell number if you want encouragement.
