1991 XJS Aftermarket Stereo Install Problems
Warning 14 pics attached... might be slow to load.
Trying to install a Pioneer head unit into a 1991 XJS coupe. There was a Jensen head unit installed but not working well.
After installing the Pioneer and wiring it as close as possible to how the Jensen was wired it would not turn on. Swapped back to the Jensen and now that wont turn on either.
The wires were a mess, with many pairs taped together so I had to undo what was done and redo it. I thought I did one wire at a time, but it is possible i connected something wrong.
I should note that an amp was also added. RCA cables and a remote cable were run from the dash to the drunk for this.
I have attached pictures of all the connectors.
Two things are bothering me, both of which are on the power part of the harness. The car side has nothing where the harness side has a black wire. This black wire goes to the black wire on the head unit (usually ground). Also the blue wire from the harness does not have anywhere to connect to the head units (assuming the blue wire on the Jensen is a remote wire, on the Pioneer it is).
Again this is a 1991 XJS Coupe.
Thanks
