New to me 1994 6.0 and I am in the middle of doing plugs, plug wires, solid aluminum cam cover half-moons, upgraded cam cover gaskets and of course new intake manifold gaskets, all new fuel hoses (the originals were so hard and brittle they snapped in half like a dried-out twig), new vacuum lines, reconditioned injectors, etc.
Where I need help is with the EGR hoses. Yes, I know I can eliminate the system, but I would prefer not to modify it at this point, maybe in the future, but for now I just want to put it back together as normal.
Where can I get part numbers or names of these hoses? Are they still available? Venders who sell them? I looked on Moss with little sucess.
- Two angled hoses on the crossover pipe. #1 and #2
- Hose that runs under the driver's side air box. #3
- "Y" hose on the back of the motor. #4
- Small, angled hose on manifold. #5
This site is very helpful.
The "Y", NAB4790BA, is NLA
Manifold 90, C35125, is NLA
Balance Pipe Hose, EAC2654, available
Air Valve to Manifold, EAC2655, available.
My "Y" is still pretty flexible, so I can reuses that, but the balance pipe hoses are pretty stiff. Thankfully these are available.
The parts you have labelled as 1, 2 and 3 are for the air intake, not EGR. The V12 doesn't have EGR, the second diagram you posted is for secondary air injection. That only runs for about 45 seconds after startup, and is to get the catalytic converters working. After that, the system doesn't operate.
So, is the secondary air system, what I miscalled EGR, what people eliminate? I have seen threads on eliminating the air pump, air injection rail and its related plumbing.
Yes, that's what people pull off. Not sure why, it doesn't affect performance. On many US cars in the 80's the pump was belt driven and ran continuously, that did take a bit of power. However, the Jag one is clutched like an AC compressor and only runs on startup, then shuts off.
