Default 1995 6-cylinder Coupe Turning Noise

Hey everyone,
When I turn left at low speed (e.g. when I'm parking), there's sort of a grinding noise coming from the front. What are the likely culprits? CV joints? Wheel bearing?
Also, above about 40 MPH, the wheel vibrates. The car keeps going straight, but it's a little disconcerting. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have had this problem with other cars - turned out power steering fluid was very low.

+1 on checking the fluid level.

Power steering leaks are very common in the XJS. If your fluid level is low you might want to check the hoses and especially the boots on the steering rack.

Vibration could be a number of things like wheel balance, alignment, worn bushings etc. Go have the balance checked and while the car is on the lift have them check for any play in the wheels.

Cheers,

Allan

I am having this problem too after my jag was beggar towed. I have no idea how they towed it but they messed up the front. A mechanic told me the bushings needed to be replaced. Feels like the wheel is going to fall off.

Which bushings, and why?

Bushings generally deteriorate over a period of time and result in gradual degradation of steering/handling behavior.

If the symptom is *that* bad and cropped up immediately after being towed I would expect to see some obvious damage.

Cheers
DD

not for nothing check your lugs, I had a problem similar at one point where I couldn't figure it out it vibrated only when coasting or turning and it turns our lugs were lose on one wheel.

never figured out why, at first I just assumed installer error, since it had been months between when I got.the wheels on and.then when the car on the road, but also I've read about my wheel brand having trouble with lugs staying tight on.initial installation.
