Default 1995 heater only blows full heat or no heat

Greetings! I just purchased a new to me, 1995 XJS 4.0. This is my first foray into this model jag and am slowly learning the nuances of its operation.

One fault I have noticed so far, is that when using the heat, I only get hot air from the vents when the temperature dial is set to full heat (85 i believe?). Any amount less than that I get cold air blowing through the vents. I looked through the forums and did not find anyone with a similar issue. Where should I start with diagnosing this issue?

Linas Zymantas,

Which vents do you mean? If it's the centre face-level vents, then these are not designed to blow hot air in the late models. If you read the drivers handbook, you'll see that the slider temp control for those vents is designed to blow warmer or cooler than the ambient air.

Hope that helps

Paul

You should also press the MANUAL button on the control panel. This will take the thermostat out of the equation.
