Default 1996 XJS Celebration USA Factory Options

Hello ALL. Does anyone know of a list of Factory options that was available at the time for USA spec vehicles ? I believe mine has every option, but would be nice to know for sure. Thanks for any help.

I believe heated seats are also an option.... probably linked with the heated headlight washers?

Supposedly, there was a Cold Weather "Package" offered. But I've never been able to confirm this. My 96' 4.0 has the heated seats, headlight washers, and the plug-in heating element attached to the radiator hose (which has never been used). But I notice the engine heating element is not included in the above list. Curious. I also have the front fog lights and CD changer in the trunk (boot). Funny. I've never tested the headlight washers to see if they even work. LOL
Thanks again for the replies.

Rick,

It depends what you mean by "Factory Options". There were a number of items listed as "optional extra" in the sales brochure, predominantly because they may have been standard on another XJS variant such as the V12 6 litre. Then there were a few items listed in the Accessories brochure. Then there were further items available, some of which had very limited visibility to purchasers. For example, on the late 4 litre cars, apart from the various wheel and suspension options mentioned in the list above, you could specify (in the UK, at least):

- Headlight washers
- Heated seats
- Boot spoiler
- Cream leather seats (Cream was still an extra cost option in the UK and other markets, for some strange reason)
- Trip Computer
- CD player
- Front Fog lights
- Perspex headlight covers
- Rear mudflaps
- Telephone kit
- Toolkit (maybe not available in US?)
- Child Seat
- Towbar

I have a number of the above, including the mudflaps and very rare headlight covers. But the one that I should have bought many years ago when I saw it on eBay is the replacement lower passenger knee bolster that incorporated a glove box compartment for airbag models. I've never seen another one since and I've never seen a brochure that offered it either.

Paul: Thank you for such a comprehensive response. That helps explain much. I don't believe I've ever seen even a photo of the headlight covers. And I've never heard of the knee bolster. LOL.

As a side note: I was also under the impression that for 1996 (in the USA at least) the XJS was only offered in the 4.0 version. Appears I was wrong on that also (?)

I had an NOS set of very rare headlight covers.
Sold them for a massive profit.
I could think of no reason I would ever use them.

Dont forget that the USA '96 would be a ROW '95. I dont think that any real V12 '96s made it to the US. ( But l could be wrong...)
