Default 1996 XJS driver side window

My driver side window wont roll down. I had a mechanic come look at it and I need regulator motor. The price he saying to repair the window mechanics will cost me $650

Does this seem right? I might take it to another place. My XJS has 103K miles for a 96. Things break down on old cars. Just checking to see anyone have any experience on this type of repair.

Thanks!
DH

Assuming the mechanic knows his stuff and it is in fact the regulator that is faulty and not say the switch, wiring etc, a new one will cost about $300 and you can find used ones for under $200.

Installing yourself is not too bad if you are handy.

I would imagine most Jag specialists would charge somewhere between $450 and $600 to do the job.

Cheers,

Allan
